FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What camera/gear do you use?

My camera bag is packed with goodies and I am definitely slightly obsessed with photo equipment. Below are my current go-to items.

Main camera: Canon 5D Mark IV
Main Lens: Canon 24-70mm II, f2.8
Drone: Mavic Pro (fly more combo)
Tripod: Manfrotto Element Traveller Big

How do you take your pictures?

I travel with my boyfriend, Mikael. I do all the camera settings (I only shoot manual mode), frame the picture, take an example shot and then show him where I want to stand and to direct me to that place once he looks through the viewfinder. He is not as photography interested as me, so if he sometimes doesn’t feel like taking pictures, then I just put my camera on the tripod and connect it to my phone. Needless to say, it’s a lot more work, so I like to make compromises.

How do you edit your photos?

I edit all my photos with Lightroom and Photoshop. I pay for the Photography package at Adobe and use only these two religiously, they are truly amazing.

Do you travel full-time or do you have a base?

I have a permanent address in Gothenburg, Sweden. I traveled full-time between January and July 2019, but otherwise I take trips quite often throughout the year.

Is Instagram/blog your job and do you earn money from it?

No. A lot of people ask me this and I know they hope for a yes. The hard truth is that even though Instagram and a blog ARE a full-time job (if not more), it takes years before you can start making money from them.

How can you afford to travel so much?

Everything in life is about priorities. When I quit my job to travel full-time, I decided that the money I worked so hard to save won’t go towards buying a house. It will go towards traveling and fulfilling my dreams. The savings have covered the majority of the travels. During my travels I also worked part-time as a digital nomad, it was only about 5 hours per week, but it helped pay for a few dinners 🙂

How much did it cost you to travel full-time for 6 months?

We spent roughly around $8000 USD each. Flights, hotels, food and shopping and all bits and bobs included.

Why did you quit your job to travel?

I realized there is more to life than eat-work-sleep. So I decided to quit my marketing position and treat my spirit to something a bit more exciting than an office job. Do I regret it? No. It’s the best decision I have ever made.

Are there any affiliate links on your website?

I, Wanderlista is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com or Amazon’s European subsidiaries.

In some articles I also link to booking.com and hotels we stayed at/recommend.

Like all affiliate links, this does not cost you extra money, it just helps me earn a commission through recommending you my favorite products and places to stay.
