My favorite hotel in Gothenburg is hands down Hotel Pigalle – a true decadent luxury oasis in the heart of the city. Hotel Pigalle has been awarded multiple prizes and its Bar Amuse and Restaurant Atelier are one of the best in town. I booked room Royale and decided to send in a request for room 335. This post is a review of our stay in Hotel Pigalle in general, as well as our beautiful room. So, whether you’re a local looking to book a staycation or a traveller looking for a nice hotel break on your West Sweden travels, this is the best place in the town.
About Hotel Pigalle
Hotel Pigalle is located about a 2-minute walk from the central station and right in the center of the main shopping district of Gothenburg. The hotel is part of a hotel chain ESS Group and one of the best hotels in Sweden. Parisian-style decor, bar, restaurant and meticulously decorated rooms, meaning you can easily spend a long weekend here without even leaving the place.
While Hotel Pigalle is not famous for its SPA or gym – in fact, it doesn’t have either – it is the perfect place for those who want to eat well, sleep well and be in the center of the action. There’s nothing wrong with showing up early for your check-in either – they have the coziest waiting area with free coffee in Bar Amuse.
Room 335
Room 335 is probably the hotel’s most famous room – and for a good reason! The bedroom/bathroom combination is unique and with lots of personality. From the moment you walk in, you forget you are in Gothenburg and emerge yourself in another era altogether. The decor is well-thought-through and the bed so soft you could easily spend the day in it. For those of you who have some trouble sleeping, this room is on the third floor, right below the restaurant. So expect noise from upstairs and take those earplugs they offer or bring your own with you.
The Breakfast
For every fan of hotel breakfast buffés, Hotel Pigalle does it right! All the ingredients are fresh, local and simple and the extra things, such as fresh carrot juice really make the difference. I am a huge lover of hotel breakfasts, but if some of you don’t like to spend so much time eating, then they have express breakfast available as well. They hang the goodies on the doorknob and you can eat while getting ready in the room, or on the go.
But, come on – who could miss a spread like this?! 🙂
No matter if you live in the city or are visiting, everyone should experience an evening at Pigalle. After check-in, we just drank some wine in the room until it was time for dinner. The dinner is served in the same place as breakfast, Atelier – which is on the top floor of the building.
TIP: book directly through the hotel. This way you’ll get a better deal than if you book through other hotel websites. They even have a 25% discount on early birds – cool, right?
